✅ 1. Change or Clean the Air Filter
Dirty filters restrict airflow and reduce efficiency.
Replace or clean them every 1–3 months depending on usage and type.
🧽 2. Clean the Vents & Registers
Vacuum dust and debris from vents inside your home.
Make sure furniture or curtains aren’t blocking airflow.
🌬️ 3. Inspect the Outdoor Unit (Condenser)
Clear away leaves, grass, and debris from around the unit.
Gently hose off the fins (be careful not to bend them).
Leave at least 2 feet of clearance all around it.
🧰 4. Check the Thermostat
Switch it to cooling mode and set it a few degrees lower than the room temperature.
Consider upgrading to a programmable or smart thermostat for better efficiency.
⚙️ 5. Test the System
Turn on the AC and let it run for a few minutes.
Make sure cool air is coming out and there are no strange noises or odors.
🔧 6. Inspect Ductwork (if accessible)
Look for disconnected sections, holes, or leaks.
Sealing small gaps with foil-backed tape can improve performance.
📞 7. Schedule Professional Maintenance
A technician can check refrigerant levels, clean coils, inspect electrical components, and tune up the system.
Doing this once a year helps catch small issues before they turn into big ones.
📝 Bonus Tips:
Check insulation on refrigerant lines.
Clean or replace humidifier pads if your system includes one.
Check your energy bill after the first month—any big spikes might point to inefficiencies.
